Who We Are

Diane RenihanBallantrae brings together skilled professionals from several disciplines and varied backgrounds to advise companies on the best financial strategies for their situation.

Ballantrae is led by founder and principal, Diane Renihan. Diane’s strong financial management, operational, and strategic leadership skills give her a unique and proven ability to diagnose a situation, orchestrate a course of action, and communicate the plan. Diane has 21 years of experience as a finance and accounting professional and has served as CFO of several dynamic, rapid growth companies—both public and private.

  • As CFO of Bag Borrow or Steal (a luxury rental website for designer handbags, jewelry and sunglasses), with responsibility for all aspects of finance, accounting, investor relations, human resources, legal, risk management and board management, she led the fundraising efforts to close two preferred stock financings and a multi-million dollar debt facility.
  • As CFO at Naverus (a start-up company serving as the world's leading designer of performance-based navigation procedures), she created the corporate infrastructure and financial systems and led three preferred stock financings.
  • As CFO of Coinstar (NASDAQ: CSTR /the owner and operator of a global network of supermarket-based coin-counting machines), Diane restructured the balance sheet, lowering capital costs by nine percentage points, and managed a $90 million, over-subscribed syndicated debt financing. During her tenure, Diane also served on a three-person team responsible for the strategic and daily operations of the company, following the CEO’s resignation.

Diane graduated with a BBA in Accounting from The College of William and Mary in 1987 and is a Certified Public Accountant.

  • Course developer and instructor for Certified Guardianship Program, University of Washington
  • Speaker on various business and financial topics for numerous business organizations, including Northwest Entrepreneur Network’s Entrepreneur University, University of Washington’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Washington’s Osher Program, and CFO Roundtable
  • Advisory Board Member, Seattle University Albers School of Business, 2002-2005
  • Cited as one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2002
